I'm a lighting specialist with a background in both commercial and documentary photography. I’ve worked as the Studio & Lighting Technician at the Arts University Bournemouth for over 2 years, and bring technical precision, creative problem-solving, and deep knowledge of both analogue and digital workflows to every shoot. Whether on set or location, I focus on controlling light and keeping spirits high.

Ram Shergill, India

In 2023, I was the first assistant & digi op for Ram Shergill on a week long shoot in Goa, India for fashion house Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. Shooting Dino Morea, Dayena Erappa, Lakshmi Rana, and others.

ThruDark Collaboration

In 2025, I did the lighting and photography for a collaboration between ThruDark and the Arts University Bournemouth producing a video and stills for a product launch. This included portraits of Jason Fox and Anthony Stazicker.

David Lund & Broncolor

In 2024, I assisted photographer David Lund for a collaboration between Broncolor and the Arts University Bournemouth. We ran 2 sessions showing students the new Broncolor Satos packs, shutter triggers, and how to make a mess with paint and eggs.

I was the second assistant on the film poster shoot for Finding Your Feet, and was a stand-in model for the composite shots of Joanna Lumley, Timothy Spall, Celia Imrie, David Hayman, and Imelda Staunton.

  • What Is Of Skin & Rock?

    Of Skin & Rock (or Of Skin and Rock) is a photography project by Fin MacMillan. Shot on film with large and medium format cameras and using portable studio flash on location, the project focuses on free-climbers and boulderers. The series has been shot in locations across France, Spain, and the UK, combining documentary storytelling with the precision of studio lighting in remote, rugged environments.   • What Awards Have You Received?

    In 2025, my Of Skin & Rock series won the Paris Photography Award in the Professional Analogue/People category.

    In 2023, my masters project won the Postgraduate Award Prize.

    In 2022, 7 of my photos received finalist nominations in the Association of Photographers (AOP) Student Awards.

  • Can I hire you as a Lighting Assistant or Photographer?

    Yes — I am available for freelance work in London and across the UK as both a lighting assistant and photographer. I’m comfortable supporting commercial, fashion, editorial, and documentary productions, whether that’s managing complex lighting setups, troubleshooting technical issues, or shooting on film and digital. My technical background means I can keep shoots running smoothly while adapting quickly to the needs of the production.

  • Can I Buy Prints?

    Yes! Prints of any image on this website are available on request. I can print inkjet up to A2, digital C-Type up to 30 inches on the shortest dimension, and darkroom (30 inches for colour & 40 inches for black & white).

  • What Experience do you have with Studio Lighting and Camera Systems?

    I have extensive experience working with professional studio lighting and camera systems, including Broncolor, Profoto, and Elinchrom kits, as well as a wide range of camera formats including PhaseOne, Hasselblad, Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Fuji through to medium and large format film cameras.

    I currently work as a studio and lighting technician at Arts University Bournemouth, where I manage the studios, support commercial and academic shoots, and train young photographers in advanced lighting techniques.

  • What Clients and Brands have you Worked With?

    I have worked with a mix of commercial clients, production teams, and independent creatives. Highlights include assisting Ram Shergill on a week-long fashion shoot in India for Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, assisting David Lund for an official Broncolor product demonstration, and leading photography and lighting for ThruDark’s commercial campaign. Alongside this, I’ve developed and exhibited my own documentary projects such as Of Skin & Rock, shot across Europe on large and medium format film.
